How to remove Spriv Multi-Factor Authentication (RDP)

Full removal requires a Safe Mode reboot, a registry step, and then a standard Control Panel uninstall in that order.

Do not select the "with Networking" variant of Safe Mode in either startup path below.
  1. Reboot in Safe Mode

Start the computer in Safe Mode see the OS-specific steps below.

  2. Navigate to the Spriv folder

Open File Explorer and go to C:\Program Files\Spriv LLC\Spriv Credential Provider\.

  3. Run UnregisterFilter.reg

Double-click UnregisterFilter.reg to remove Spriv MFA for RDP from the registry.

  4. Reboot

Restart the computer. The Spriv login screen will still appear.

  5. Select your original login method

On the left side of the login screen, choose your original login method and log in.

  6. Uninstall the Credential Provider

Once logged in: Control Panel → "Uninstall a Program" → select "Spriv Credential Provider for Windows" → click "Uninstall."

  7. Reboot again

After the final restart, only your original login method will be available.

Starting in Safe Mode

Windows 8.1, 10, 11
