Unix/Linux Adaptive PAM Multi-Factor Authentication

Onboarding guide for administrators setting up Spriv on Unix/Linux via PAM with adaptive, push, TOTP and two-way SMS authentication.

  1. Sign up for an Administrator account

Create your company's first Spriv Administrator account.

  2. Download the Spriv MFA app

Install it from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

  3. Pair your mobile phone

Pair the phone with your new admin account see How to Pair a Mobile Phone with a Username for a full walkthrough.

  4. Save your Recovery Code

Very important: save your Recovery Code and configure backup access. Add a secondary administrator, paired with a second phone, before regular use.

  5. Select what to protect

Choose your target system: Ruby on Rails Gem/Code, API Code Samples, RDP, SSH Linux Remote Access, or a proof-of-concept deployment.

Before going live: each company should set at least two Administrator accounts as a backup measure see Account Recovery Options.
