Connecting to a Remote Desktop server protected by Spriv

A walkthrough for end users opening Remote Desktop and signing in to a Spriv-protected server for the first time.

  1. Open Remote Desktop

    In Windows 11, press Ctrl+Esc, type "RDP" in the search line, then click "Remote Desktop Protocol."

  2. Enter the server address

    At the "Computer" field, enter the IP address or URL of your server contact your company administrator if you don't have it. Click "Connect."

  3. Use a different account

    On the next screen, select "More Choices" → "Use a different account," then enter the username and password provided by your administrator. Click "OK," then "Connect." Accept the confirmation prompt if one appears.

  4. Choose your second factor

    The server login screen defaults to Adaptive Authentication. You can also choose Allow/Deny, Two-Way SMS, or TOTP.

  5. Finish signing in

    Enter your password and click the arrow next to the password field.

BypassCode: you may not see a BypassCode prompt it's a workaround access method reserved for system administrators to allow login to the server in case of a lock.
