Error Message: “The username or password is incorrect OR for domain access enter domain_name\username for Microsoft Account enter MicrosoftAccount\accountname@outlook.com”
- Please check your username and password, the username password mismatch. Check that there is no space in the username or password.
- The error can be caused by missing domain name before the username. In order to login to a domain, you must enter first the “domain_name\” before the username. Example: if your domain name is companyx and your username is David than you should enter: companyx\david
- The error can be caused by missing “MicrosoftAccount\” before the username. In order to login to Microsoft Account, you must enter first “MicrosoftAccount\” before your username. Example: if your username is DavidHe@outlook.com than you should enter: MicrosoftAccount\DavidHe@outlook.com
Important to know: By Microsoft design and based on security reasons, it is not possible for Windows Two Factor Authentication (Credential Provider) to cache the username nor domain\username.
